NICU

-JADEN 2HOURS AFTER BIRTH-
Well, I have been reviewing all Jadens Medical Complications from the past till now and I often wonder if I'm the ONLY Mom that has gone through this or are still going through this. But when Jaden was a Baby about 32 weeks i was told from an ultra sound that Jaden's Arms, Legs, and torso, don't equal out to the weeks gestation;
in fact he was 3-4 weeks behind but his head was rather large and the Dr.s were worried if i would be able to deliver him Vag. So they checked his weight and realized that he would be 9lbs or more, Not what you wanna hear in the near and end of A long Pregnancy. Well we seen all kinds of specialist in the parental asst Dept at the U that's the abbrev for U of M and shortly after Jaden was born he had some repository distress and would not go home with us after i was discharged in fact he had to stay in NICU to monitor his breathing and his lungs and his oxygen rate and his heart. this was supposed to be for 24 hours but turn into a 36 hour deal with no diagnoses and why 24 turned to 36 when his nurse said he was doing excellent.
and when i look back at my sweat baby Boy's pictures and i now can see the signs of hypochondroplasia where i could of educated my self about the medical complications
and would of known what to expect medical wise and growth wise and much more, no one prepared us for this till he was 2yrs 8mos, but medical probs since birth. And I wonder how many mothers of children with Dwarfism have had their babies in the NICU after birth. is this common?

Preston was not in the NICU, although I thought he would be with all the hoopla prior to his birth. His apgars were 9 and 9 and he was tremendous at birth (how ironic) so he was put in the regular nursery.
Just remember you are Jaden's best advocate and you are doing a wonderful job!
