A little HaLlOwEeN In the Gawthrop House....

Okay so how many of you Mommy's that are on her Blogging about our crazy but wonderful life as Mommy, bestfriend, manager, Advocate, Teacher, and so on, Have your kids in school getting ready for Halloween parties well Unfortunitly to report We aren't that Lucky because my kids school opt-out of Halloween parties because of other religous beliefs Come on how crazy has this world gotten, I remember growning up that as a child this was trudition to me at school we had holiday parties, then holiday then the Vacation from Holidays. But we didn't stop having Vacations but we can stop the parties to celebrate Kinda sounds stupid to me you know things weren't this bad in america as i was growning up and we did stop our kids from being kids we were tought that their are many different ppl in the world and just accept it don't push your belief off on others well why is my kids and my belifs being compermised because others don't celebrate, or don't believe damn this is supposed to America Freedom of speach freedom of religion but were not free, this is upposed to be a country of many nations combined but others come in and push their beliefs off on us
and where is that fair, we celebrate X-mas and i don't mind if the kid next to my kid in school celebrates chanakkah just tell me ill write a chanakkah Message on his bag or cup cake, or your child celebrates Romadon he/she can take it home when the are allowed to eat it. Damn We as parents are to busy pleasing our slefs and our beliefs on our kids let them be kids and enjoy life and later on down the road they can chose.what they want to believe and celebrate. So im gonna make cupcakes anyways and give them to the kids when they get off the Bus ON Halloween at the bus stop.
so thats how we are gonna a have a little halloween here at the Gawthrops's and of corse We Will be trick or treating.

Sonya,

I couldn't agree with you more.

I have worked in so many day care centers and preschools that refuse to acknowledge Halloween. Some even refuse to acknowledge Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc. Even some public schools are now saying that they can no longer do art projects intended for those holidays. It is very sad.

Now I believe that everyone has a right to believe whatever they choose to believe and practice religion any way they want to but what is this world coming to when children are not allowed to be exposed to other cultural beliefs? Just let them be kids, let them see what's out there and when they are old enough to make a decision and ask questions then let them chose what they want to believe.
